Your first useful experiment.
You do not need a complicated workflow to learn whether an AI tool helps. Start with something small enough to check yourself.
01 — Define the result
Write one sentence describing the job: “Turn these rough notes into a five-point outline for a new colleague.” Include who the result is for and what makes it useful.
02 — Bring a small sample
Use a short piece of material you are allowed to share. Remove private details. Tell the tool what information is known and where you want it to ask questions.
03 — Make the output checkable
Ask for a format you can inspect: a table, an outline, a short draft, or a list of unanswered questions. If facts matter, ask for sources and open those sources yourself.
04 — Compare with your own standard
Did it preserve the meaning? Did it miss a constraint? Is the result easier to use? Keep the useful parts, correct the rest, and change one instruction for the next attempt.
